Monica Roman
Monica Roman is currently Director of Growth & Strategic Impact at the African Women Entrepreneurship Cooperative. Her responsibilities include leading high-impact, strategic initiatives, from inception to delivery, to foster the growth of AWEC as a program and the growth of AWEC fellows and alumnae and their businesses. This includes quantifying AWEC impact in order to develop partnerships, developing program design and execution to deliver on strategic initiatives, and fundraising and business development efforts to fund growth.
She has spent her career thus far working at mission-driven civics and education organizations, including the Center for Ethnic, Racial and Religious Understanding (CERRU), Generation Citizen, and the NYC Urban Debate League. Her skillset spans communications, development, and operations and she has unique experience working with diverse and cross-functional teams.
Monica is a graduate of the Macaulay Honors College at Queens College and received her MBA from the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College. Born and raised on Long Island, Monica is a self-proclaimed beach bum, but in the colder months, she enjoys running, traveling, and crying over the New York Knicks.
