A Community of Successful African Business Women

Entrepreneurship is a lonely path. The AWEC Alumnae Network (AAN) ensures that our entrepreneurs don’t walk that path alone. After completing their program year, AWEC Fellows are immediately invited to join a private online community created exclusively for them.

The AAN is a network of over 1,200 women entrepreneurs who have remained connected through a variety of projects, many of which are alumnae-led and supported by AWEC. At the heart of this network is the AWEC Alumnae Advisory Board (AAB), a voluntary group of passionate AWEC ambassadors who guide the strategic direction and activities of the AAN, ensuring continued engagement and impact.

Engagement Opportunities

  • AWEC & Alumnae-led Masterclasses on practical topics geared at continued growth post the program. This includes Business Clinics, Expert-led Webinars, Business Dialogues, etc

  • Alumnae-driven peer-to-peer mentorship and the AWEC Thought Leadership Initiative (TLI)

  • Networking and partnership-building through virtual, in-person activities and meetups which have resulted in outcomes like cross border expansion, pan-African trade, accountability systems, etc

  • Community-building activities that encourage alumnae to pay-it-forward to their employees, community and other women-owned businesses. A key initiative for this is the Community Champions Initiative (CCI).
