AWEC General Assembly Transitions to Virtual Event

Twice a year, we look forward to convening the AWEC community for in-person opportunities to deepen online connections, learn practical and applied skills, and network with a pan-African group of business experts, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders.

Like many companies and organizations, we have been closely monitoring the global impact of the COVID-19 virus and continuously reviewing the recommendations of international health organizations. In light of recent developments in the progress and spread of the virus, AWEC has decided to cancel its in-person General Assembly event scheduled to take place in Lagos, Nigeria on 16-17 March and will reformat it an online-only, virtual event.

This online event will be held during the week of 16-20 March and will feature several in-depth and practical online sessions available exclusively to AWEC participants and alumnae.

Despite this unexpected change, we take some comfort in knowing that the members of the AWEC community are uniquely equipped and well-prepared for this global shift toward remote working and digital collaboration, as a result of AWEC’s blended learning model.

We will be sharing additional information with current and former cohort members via their accounts on NovoEd and HiveBrite very soon and appreciate patience from everyone in the AWEC network as we address programmatic and logistical changes.

While we are disappointed to miss the opportunity to connect with our participants and alumnae in-person, the health of our participants, speakers, staff, and their families are of utmost importance to us.

For more information on the COVID-19 virus, we recommend consulting the WHOCDC, and your home country’s public health agency.
