Congratulations and a Warm Welcome to Cohort 5 Fellows!

AWEC is thrilled to welcome 200 new African women entrepreneurs into the Cooperative this month.

After applying to the program and waiting anxiously for the news, 200 women received the invitation for a coveted spot in the African Women Entrepreneurship Cooperative’s flagship year-long program. We selected these exceptional trailblazers from a pool of 3,526 talented African women business owners from across the continent and the diaspora.

Here are some quick facts about this new cohort:

  • Cohort 5’s Fellows span across 19 industries, with the top ones being farming, apparel and  food processing.

  • 52% have been in business for 3 - 5 years.

  • 40% have 7+ years of experience as entrepreneurs.

  • They hail from 31 countries across Africa, and the top nations represented include Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Kenya.

Furthermore, the businesses that these women own have already gained impressive traction. We’re looking forward to seeing even more growth achieved as they learn and apply new skills that they will acquire over the next year.
